Bypassing pptp WAN. Is this possible?

I have connected 2 routers, the primary is my gateway, the secondary is a dd-wrt. The dd-wrt has been setup like a VPN client. Its WAN Connection Type is PPTP. The clients that need a VPN connection to the internet are connected to the LAN ports of this secondary router. The clients that don't require a VPN connection are connected to the LAN ports of the primary router. 
 
What I need, want, would like.....: 
I need the clients of the primary router and the clients of the secondary router to talk to each other without using the PPTP connection. I programmed a static rule on the primary router so that primary LAN clients would be routed to secondary LAN clients. It works, but still all trafic is going through the VPN server.
